Brief

Canada Water London commissioned Vivid Squad to produce social media reels capturing the Love Summer 2023 programme — a summer series of activities, workshops, and live events held at Canada Water, part of British Land's ongoing activation of the waterside estate.

The brief was to capture the relaxed, community-driven energy of the programme: yoga and pilates sessions, art workshops, terrarium-making classes, live music, and the general atmosphere of a London summer by the water. Content that would perform on Instagram and TikTok, and that would encourage people who hadn't visited to come.

About the Project

Love Summer at Canada Water is the kind of programming that looks simple to document but requires care to capture well — the activities are varied, the pace is relaxed, and the 'story' isn't a single dramatic moment but a collection of smaller ones: a participant finishing a terrarium, a yoga class facing the dock, musicians playing to a small crowd at golden hour.

The reels were built around those smaller moments rather than a broad overview. Specific, sensory detail — a pair of hands weaving a plant into a glass jar, the sound of an acoustic guitar carrying across water — communicates the programme's atmosphere far more effectively than wide crowd shots. That specificity is what makes social content shareable: people tag a friend because they can picture exactly what it would feel like to be there.

Canada Water is part of British Land's estate, placing this project within our existing working relationship with one of London's largest regeneration partners.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you cover outdoor summer events and activation programmes?

Yes — outdoor event and activation coverage is a strong part of our portfolio. We've covered summer programmes, cultural festivals, and community activations across Canada Water, Greenwich Peninsula, and other London estate locations. Outdoor content benefits from the light and environment, but it also requires reactive camera work — you can't control conditions the way you can in a studio.

Do you produce Instagram Reels and TikTok content specifically?

Yes. We shoot and edit for vertical 9:16 platforms as standard alongside 16:9 cuts. Most of our event content is planned from the start to produce both formats — a full highlight film for YouTube and the website, and short-form cuts for Reels and TikTok. You get more content from the same shoot day.
