Case Study
Lunar New Year 2024 — Greenwich Peninsula
Event videography for Lunar New Year 2024 at Greenwich Peninsula — capturing performances, the dragon dance, a Chinese landscape installation, and community celebrations for the Year of the Dragon.
Brief
Greenwich Peninsula commissioned Vivid Squad to cover their Lunar New Year 2024 celebrations — a full programme of cultural performances, community activity, and public installations marking the Year of the Dragon. The brief covered the full event from the headline dragon dance to the artist-led Chinese landscape installation and community interviews.
Three pieces of content were produced: a full highlight reel; a focused dragon dance video; and a documentary-style piece featuring the installation alongside artist and visitor interviews.

About the Project
As Greenwich Peninsula's ongoing content partner, we have covered the estate's Lunar New Year celebrations across multiple years — arriving with a working knowledge of the site and the client's editorial direction so the focus stays on coverage.
Cultural event video carries both the spectacle and the meaning of the celebration to a wider audience — content that drives footfall and builds anticipation for the following year across social and press.
The Lunar New Year programme at Greenwich Peninsula has grown into one of the estate's signature annual events. The 2024 edition marked the Year of the Dragon with the dragon dance as its centrepiece — and the three-video output gave Greenwich Peninsula content with different purposes: highlight reel for broad social reach, dragon dance clip for platform amplification, and installation piece for the cultural audience.
Filming a live cultural event of this scale means working unobtrusively around a programme that happens once — timed performances, moving crowds, and set-pieces that cannot be repeated. We covered the day to hold the dragon dance as the centrepiece while staying responsive to the community moments around it, then shaped the footage into three cuts paced for where each would live: the highlight reel for broad social reach, the dragon dance feature for platform amplification, and the documentary piece for the estate's cultural and press audiences.

FAQ
Common questions
Do you cover annual cultural celebrations for venues in London?
Yes — we cover annual and cultural celebrations for venues and estates across London, including Greenwich Peninsula's Lunar New Year events, building a consistent library of content year on year for marketing and social.
Can you cover both large crowd performances and intimate artist interviews at the same event?
Yes — Lunar New Year 2024 required both. We covered the dragon dance in front of a large crowd, then shifted to documentary-style filming for the cultural installation with artist and visitor interviews. We plan for the shift in approach in the brief.
Do you produce multiple cuts from a single event?
Yes — at Greenwich Peninsula's Lunar New Year 2024 we produced a highlight reel, a standalone dragon dance video, and a documentary piece for the installation. Three pieces from one shoot, each with a different audience and purpose.
